Been waiting weeks and weeks for tax credit award

Hi all,
I split with my husband on 24th feb and he moved out on 13th march. I rang the tax credits helpline the day he moved out to end our joint claim and initiate a new claim. I got confirmation that the single claim had ended but have not recieved anything regarding the new claim.
I rang them up after 3 weeks to see if all was ok and the advisor said the status was 'awaiting award/payment' but escalated it to a team leader because she said she couldnt see why it was just sitting in the system. I have since rung once a week to check what is happening and its still just sitting in the system but nobody can tell me why! I cant get any further up the chain than the call centre and its so frustrating! I need to get my finances in order but I cant plan anything because I have no idea what will be coming in to the household.
Because they backdate to the actual split they actually owe me more than 2 months payments!!
Is anyone else having the same problem and is there anything I can do?
Thanks for stopping and reading.

Was chatting to a friend the other day who commented on how quickly hers was - she split at the end of February and she said by the time she got her award letter about ten days later, first payment had already been banked! Must just be a very slim timing change between old tax year/new tax year that creates the backlog!0
