Its gone on now for like a month, my second credit card bill since has came in, the minimum payment on it is like £75 which im gonna keep paying but it leaves me £75 down every month now, im so annoyed at myself but i just want this payed off and gone asap, he's not taking my calls or answering my messages so im thinking a formal letter may get me somewhere first before i take it to his boss, im so scared of something bad happening if i get him disciplined or sacked. Im worried about saying to much in messages incase he has a case to twist it into blackmail etc if im saying things like "i'll tell your boss if you dont pay" Thanks everyone again!0

Get real here! If he hasn't paid now for a month he wont pay next month or the month after.
By not contacting him again you strengthen your case because he won't be able to accuse you of blackmail.
Reporting him also makes sure that there will be no backlash from him afterwards.0 -
Take a deep breath, be brave, and do it. It won't feel nice, but it probably doesn't seem nice at the moment. I think he won't pay, and you have the bill and he has the kitchen. You can sue in the small claims court if you don't want to go to the police station, and as you have the bill and he has the kitchen that will work in your favour.
Some people push to see how far they can go, and I think that is what has happened here. If you don't do anything, you won't get your money back.
I'd also sue for any credit card interest as well.

I agree totally with Wyndham.
Also I would forget about the issue regarding the flat or house or whatever it was he wanted to rent out to you that is an entirely seperate issue and only confuses the matter in hand ......your money! Although one has to wonder whether he has declared this business interests to his Force as he should do?
Get in touch with the discipline and complaints dept (in our Focre it's called Professional Standards) of his local force and go from there. To get my £2k back I would be his worst nightmare, I'm afraid I'm of the opinion so what if he gets disicplined at work for this, he bl**y well should this is not how I believe Officers of the Law should behave. You do not need to involve a solicitor in this, in fact he's probably certain you are bluffing about that. Explain what has happened to the Force and tell them you will be taking county court action against him. Then take a deep breath, stiffen your spine and do exactly that!!!!!

ok heres my follow up, a friend of mine in the Us is a lawyer so she drafted me up a letter saying in a nice, but kick !!! way that the money is owing and he has 7 days in which to either repay it or confirm a repayment plan with first payment. Seven days after i sent that (he's cutting it fine) i recieved a letter off him saying that he has seeked legal advise and he admits money is owing to me, and that he will repay (and this made me laugh...) SOME of the money, and could he have 14 further days in which to do this. So i gave him his 14 days and surprise surprise, that ran out yesterday, so now im gonna get him where it hurts, ive written and posted out a letter today stating the 14 days are up and as ive heard no more off him, i will be persuing the matter in court and making a formal complaint at his place of work!! i cant wait im so excited !!!!!0

It is such a pity that a relationship is destroyed over money. Here is an upside - imagine you become flatmate and really trust this person, and one day lend him not 2000 but 5000?iaye carramba!0
