Sky scam?

Just thought I would post about a phone call I had the misfortune to answer today....
OH had just gone to work when the phone rang. I was not best pleased as I had been on night shift and was sleeping, however I couldnt ignore the phone due to current family circumstances.
So I got up to answer the phone and when I did the caller asked to speak to my partner, saying they were from Sky. I explained he wasnt at home and that it was me who dealt with the account anyway (I believe there is a note on the account giving Sky authority to deal with me due to OH's disability) Alarm bells began to ring when the caller said he couldnt speak to me and he needed to speak to OH about confirming some details and setting up a password.
I smelled a massive rat here and said not only was there already a password on the account which I am authorised to use, there is also a note on there to say that it was me they were to deal with as OH becomes distressed quickly using the telephone. He pressed on and demanded to know when OH would be in, at which point I lost my rag and said I was telling him nothing and not to ring again this week as he had just woken me up. I slammed the phone down and called Sky who spoke to me with no problems and correctly confirmed no-one from Sky had attempted to access the account and that they would not make calls of that type.
So I dont know what on earth is going on here but its probably something to be wary of...

Sorry, I don't understand. Where's the scam?0

Might be the extended service mob.0

I was going to sign up to Sky to get free BB BUT decided not to go ahead and was plagued by constant sales calls and many were silent calls too!!!
I had to write to James Murdoch to get them off my back!!!0 -

The scam is obviously it wasn't Sky calling and they were going to ask for the customers details such as name, DOB, address possibly even bank details and possibly their old and new password. Once they have them who knows what they might get up to.If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

I had a call yesterday same senario, Sky called and said they had to send out a new card for me, I replied and said I actually don't have sky and the guy said oh then said my name and said he wanted to have sex with me!
I played him at his own game and said ok when!!!!! He bottled it and hung up!0 -
it was probably one of the many companies who sell a protection plan cover for your skybox. A few new ones have opened up after a big one collapsed.0

Ah right. cheers everyone
I did ring back and followed the voice prompts to have our number removed from their system and heard nothing since.
