Lego sets, model cars & toys

I'm new here, so please excuse me if I've posted this in the wrong place!

I'm looking to a car boot sale and have some childhood stuff specifically that I'm looking to sell.

I have a few complete (incl. boxed with instructions!) Lego sets from the early 80's I reckon, a load of model cars (some Corgi, mostly promotional - petrol stations/cornfake packets/sweet wrappers etc) all of which have never been taken out of their boxes and some Fisher Price and Tonka toys in very good condition.

I'm basically in need of some advice and haven't been able to find any, namely:

1. Is a car boot sale the right place to try to sell any of these things?

2. Where could I find information on places that would buy them if not?

3. Any suggestions on prices for this sort of thing, car boot or collectors or whatever? Obviously for this more information would be needed on all the items, but I didn't want to spend time typing it all out if I'm in the wrong place!

Thanks and I look forward to any responses!

We sold lots of my husbands lego and toys we found in the attic on ebay and wa amazed how much we got for it although it wasn't in great condition - and we were honest!
Just in the process of listing 100's of Corgi cars but they don't seem to be selling so well so will be interested to see what others advise you on this one!

Sold some old sets of Lego and got some decent money for them on ebay and will get round to sorting some more out

Before you put them on ebay do a search to see if anyone else is selling the same item so you get an idea of a starting price or what price the items are going for.

Most people put the set number in the advert header so they are found easily e.g. "Lego set 1089"
  • Anyways been honest with LEGO kits - the oldies get more cash (mainly the 60's to the 80's) I should know as I was a major collector before selling up.

As slowen said - put in The name and then the set code

Try here for the names: https://www.brickset.com

  • I'd say a car boot sale would be best for the cars, eBay for most of the other stuff. Vintage Fisher Price seems quite popular on eBay. If you check Completed Listings on eBay (if you're not already a member, you'll need to register to access this search feature) you can see if any items like yours have sold recently, and how much they made.
  • I am also new here and looking for advice on where to sell a few collectable things now the kids have up and left and decided to leave all there stuff here!
I am not too keen on ebay as I have had some bad results and the charges on some items make it less appealing if they are not high priced items. I have been discussing the merits in other threads of alternatives to ebay. One site I have found that looks interesting is http://www.ubos.co.uk This is an online boot sale site which seems to fit in with some of the things I want to sell. According to the information on the site it is free to list with no commision charges for the next 90 days. Sounds good to me at the moment. I have some collectable stuff as well (coins) and there is someone selling these on there already. Maybe if enough sellers join then it almost becomes a club and the place to buy and sell certain collectables. The only problem I see is will sites like these have enough buyers visiting them? Nothing to lose at the moment. I might even put some items on both.
  • My mate sells model cars on ebay and some of them go for loads
  • if you check on Peeron.com all the lego sets are listed on there together with all the pices of the set, you will make much more money if you make up the sets, sell abroad, if they are space lego they are worth more. I sold all my sons !

I really hope there's an apostrophe missing from that statement! :rotfl:
