Fast Growing Climbing plant to mask wall

I'm looking to grow a couple of fast growing climbing plants to mask a very ugly external wall. The wall has a open 'arch / doorway' through it and if possible i'd like to grow the plant / plants around the opening.

I'd prefer something that is reasonably attractive....

What is the aspect of the wall?

There are some good climbers that will do well in shade but your options will be more limited.

Ohh tricky, the largest part of the wall can be planted in soil, the smaller side of the wall is tarmacced but i could create a bed there if neccessary.

I'd go for a clematis montana which will grow fast, flower beautifully in late spring and doesn't really need pruning.

You could also grow clematis armandii at the same time. This one is evergreen and has lovely shiny foliage.

As it will be sunny and clematis like their roots kept cool you will need to mulch the bas of the plants or cover the bed with large stones or slate.
