Calm down dears, the world as we know it, is changing, not ending.
If you have to choose between beans, bullets, barbed wire and bullion, do what 9 out of 10 cats do. Sing a happy song.

Isn't it better to be the one with the food than the hungry one with the gold?
And don't you think they'd prefer to barter with people that have.......
1. Other Foods
2. Ammunition & Firearms
3. Medicine
4. Fuel
5. Preservatives, such as Salt
6. Grain, seed, access to farmland
7. Fresh water purification tablets or filters
8. Electrical generation equipment
etc, etc, etc.....
After the apocolypse, your "much treasured stash of gold" will be worthless. You can get all the gold you want from the dead bodies of the masses, from their houses, and from the ruins of their banks.
If I really thought the world as we knew it was ending shortly, I wouldn't be converting my savings into Gold.......
I'd be off down to Tesco with a van.;)“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

It amazes me when the goldbugs come out of their dens to preach how their gold stash will make them kings of the land when the world as we know it collapses. Of course, if that happened gold would be of no use whatsoever to anyone.0

Gold Prices Wednesday were rallying to their 2010 highs after investors bought gold as a safety net against a euro crash and Greek debt.

Why will the remaining survivors be changing food for gold'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
i'm really hoping that Asheron can come back give me an update on his Gold investments and whether it's a sound investment.

I'm happy to own some gold as I've said before; and I've no interest in persuading others to buy it. My risks are my own.
This is somewhat different to the house ramping you frequently see here...reminding people how they have missed the boat. I don't quite see that from those who choose a modicum of gold as an asset.0 -
