Tax Credit Renewal

Hi
I would be very grateful if someone could help me out.... I renewed my claim for ctc/wtc a few weeks ago over the phone as I hadn't heard anything back thought I would give them a quick call to chase it up. Spoke to a lovely chap who told me what my new award would be but mentioned that as my income for 09/10 had dropped quite a bit due to my maternity leave (26wks) that an underpayment had accrued and I was due a payment of £2085, he then back tracked and said that actually although I was due some money back I had been over paid by £816. He then went on to say that the payment for £2085 had been issued but recalled as there seem to be some discrepancy over the figures I gave when renewing my claim and what they have at the tax office.
I am now back at work in the same job as before and working the same hours I am at a loss as to what is going on he told me that some one from the tax office would be intouch to discuss it
Figures I gave for 09/10 income £12252
tax credits deducted £2600 for SMP sept '09 - mar'10
leaving total for yr £9652
Estimated earnings for 10/11 £15000
.....can anyone help?
Regards
