If you read my original post, you will see that my response to iQor was that I'd never had an eBay account at the time of them phoning me which was about a month or two ago. I saw the ad that was linked, created an eBay account to contact the seller: you can check with the seller if you don't believe me but the eBay account was created a couple of days ago.

Anyway, thanks to those who have offered helpful advice so far

So have you reported it to the police yet and got a crime reference number?

Have the DCA proved any proof you owe this money, other than a name and an amount. Have you considered ringing Ebay to find out what is happening. Sure its not your fault if someone has stolen your identity but YOU still have to act to sort it out, you can't just assume i did nothing so i can't be blamed for anything. You must assist in sorting it out for your own sake.

Consider this post your KITA to look into it.
