if you wife is on full pay, and will be returning to work f/t in 6m, then her income for this tax year, will be £21k. add on your £32k, and that puts you into the basic rate tax credits of £200 a year, so £3 a week

you might get slightly more, if you are having to pay out for childcare, but tbh this would still be a negligible amount, due to your income

www.entitledto.co.uk will give you a full break down of entitlements. Bear in mind that tax credit calculations go on last years salary and this years family situation so you may be best to ring the tax credits people to get an accurate figure.

Ultimately because your wife has a job, she is lucky enough to be able to take unpaid leave and still have one, then she will not be entitled to claim any jobseekers allowance (as she is not available nor looking for work).

Speak to your mortgage lender and ask if you can reduce your payments, and have a look at the OS moneysaving board to see how you can reduce some of your expenditure.

I would remind everyone here that this board is about entitlements not about government policy. So if they are entitled to claim the money then there should be no furhter comments - thank you :D
