First of all i would like to apologise for not getting back sooner i wasnt very well last night (think i made myself ill with worry), And secondly this is the first time i have ever paid for electric via dd, I have always had a pre payment meter at any other property i have lived at so when npower told me my dd was only £4 p.m and was very accurate yes i did take their word for it,They are a reputble company and didnt have any other reason to think they were possibly stringing me along!
At my other house which was also a 3 bedroomed but a lot bigger i was putting £10p.w into the electric meter hence the reason why i thought the £4p.m npower quoted was strange and which is why i phoned and queried it. I would have happily put money aside each week if i had known something like this was going to happen but there is still no way on earth we have used that much electric. We never use the central heating(again because it sets my sons asthma off)so we just stick to using the gas fire,we never leave anything on standby, never leave lights/lamps etc on during the night and the television is very rarely on during the day when the younger children are at school because im normally busy home educating my eldest daughter so unless my electric cooker is eating the electric like theres no tomorrow it really doesnt make any sense to me.
If i was still at my old property i would be using £50 max p.m (and was always £20-£30 in credit per quarter with accurate meter readings) on electric which over a 6 month period only calculates to £300 so how on gods earth have npower come up with £889.18 for the same length of time???
I only agreed to pay by dd because npower insisted i would get the best deals/discounts this way. I really wish i had just asked for a pre payment meter to be installed now0 -
Apparently NPower do some weird seasonal weighting of their more expensive units so you pay for more in the winter and less in the summer, this may mean that even if you don't use much fuel you'll still pay a considerable chunk of your yearly bill in the winter months.
At least I think that's what it means!Trev. Having an out-of-money experience!
C'MON! Let's get this debt sorted!!0 -

That only applies to gas - not electric.0 -
Have you checked all the reading that they have qouted on the bill are correct? Thats a lot of electric to use over a 6 month period. In Progress!!!0
