I'd seriously rethink the case/PSU combination. £27 is way too little to pay for the PSU (and worse when its got a case with it) as it is one of the most important components. Also, that graphics card will let you down and make the 2gig of RAM redundant. Give me a few mins and I'll give you a better spec.Out of my mind. Back in 5 minutes.0

This is just from overclockers.co.uk, as stated earlier can be pricey (you yourself have found windows xp home cheaper) but remember to take into account delivery costs if you buy from more than one supplier. If you do look elsewhere I would recommend asking before you buy (ie if getting something similiar but not exactly the same) just to ensure compatibility and that your not buying a dud. Ive done my best to give a spec that will last whilst sticking close to budget.Out of my mind. Back in 5 minutes.0 -
Have you tried http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/
If you go to products - upgrade solutions - barebones systems they have some good barebones systems but remember you do not get a hard disk drive or a graphics card with these systems you will need to fit these yourself.
I like the look of the AMD X2 Dual Core 4200 1Gb ATX one which is priced at £339.57. I am thinking of getting this one myself. A few months ago this same system was around £520 on there but it has now gone down to £340 not bad eh.0 -
Go for an AMD Athlon64 if you're choosing between a Pentium and Athlon.
They're much better cpu's. The AMD Athlon64 3500+ mentioned above would be good. The Asus A8N is probably one of the best Athlon boards about too. Those two would provide an excellent backbone to the system.
With regards to case and psu. Have a look at the Antec Sonata II. It's £80 or so, and comes with a decent 430W psu. The case looks good, and is very well built. Keeps things virtually silent too. Google "Antec Sonata Review" and you'll see the good reviews it gets."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
