Problem posting a picture

Hi,
Sorry if this is a silly question but I'm a complete technopobe.
I'm trying to post a picture on MSE, but when I try to do it the image is too large and is distorting the whole thread. Does anyone know how I can resize the picture so that it will fit?

Open an account with Photobucket and upload your photos there. Once that is done you can resize them there for an acceptable size for MSE
