Carpet stain help!

Not sure if this is in the right board but I think it will affect my relationship if I don't sort this out!
A couple of nights ago a few lads from work came round for a beer and some curry. An idiotic mate of mine managed to drop quite alot of chicken Tikka sauce on my cream coloured carpet. Nice big red stains.
We scrubbed it and I went over it with the carpet steamer which helped but it has left quite a noticeable yellow coloured mark where it was dropped.
Anyone got any ideas or tips to solve this? I realise completely getting a red curry stain out of a cream carpet is probably impossible but I thought maybe someone on here may have a clue as it looks terrible!
The missus is back from a business trip tomorrow so I need to sort it somehow... Please move if in the wrong forum.
Thanks all

Ask the ladies on Old Style!! They'll have loads of tips.0

For nasty carpet stains I've used the stuff you can get for getting oil off car upholstery - you might need to do it a couple of times but that should lift the oil from the curry.0

A blighter of a stain to remove, it’s best to eat curry wearing a rubber sheet.
From carpets: Apply a stain-removal treatment immediately then shampoo the carpet.
From fabric: Apply liquid detergent immediately, then wash as usual. Stubborn marks can be treated with a hydrogen peroxide solution (test on an inconspicuous area first).
From upholstery: Seek professional help, or try dabbing with a hydrogen peroxide solution (test on an inconspicuous area first).0 -
I would try Oxy Clean....make it into a paste and if that doesn't work, try a tiny amount of bleach into the paste and rinse throroughly. If sunshine hits the area, it will help fade it as well. I've had some spills on our carpet and usually just use some Ciff and some elbow grease and comes out, but with a large amount, I would try what I mentioned above.
If all else fails, then your friend should be the friend he is and pay to have the carpet cleaned by a specialist or have it replaced. I know if I was that friend, I would be doing what I can to get rid of it.0 -
go and buy a few more chicken tikkas and drop them on the rest of the carpet. Matching carpet all round then
(or short term rearrange the furniture and say you fancied a change to buy you some more time)0 -
This is an interesting way of removing the stain:

But if all else fails, do you have accidental damage on your home insurance? Your mate can pay the excess if you claim.0 -

I recently tried some carpet cleaner called Carpet Power that i bought from my local Co-op in a desperate last-bid attenpt to get oily soot marks from a beige carpet and it was brilliant. You spray it on, then work it in wirth a damp cloth and then leave for a few minutes, then go over it with a damp cloth. I was so excited - cleaning doesn't usually give me a buzz like that!Be the change you want to see0

Turmeric stains (which is what you have) is a nightmare to get out of anything.
We bought a cream leather sofa some years ago and also had some sort of insurance (I think) to cover stains.
The one exclusion was - yep, you've guessed it. Turmeric.
Have you asked for advice on the Old-Style board?0 -
i use something called carpet 2001 or is it 1001 - what ever the number its very good - not tried it on curry
could i also suggest a huge bunch of flowers for your OH on her return? could soften the blow if the cleaner doesnt work?0
