 Boxer is 5, rottie is 4.

So you have grey fluff all over the place too!

I wish I could have a horse too but we live in central London and I can't even afford the riding schools :(:(:(

Had to edit, got their ages wrong

I had three horses but only have one now:o Had to have one put to sleep after 23 years:o Shame you are not closer it's so hard trying to find people to ride horsesdown here:confused::confused: I have basically let a lady do what she likes with my horse now, I am too tall for him 5ft 11.
I love all animals:T :T I used to do a lot of showing with my horses, Chertsey, Hickstead etc I loved every minute:T
How funny someone else having a white boxer and a rottie in one household:T :T :T
Has your rottie always been good? Mine is going through a nasty snarling stage I hate it. The boxer I would trust with my life, she loves kids and she is sooo sweet she laughs too, puts her head to one side and smiles:T :rotfl:

Sounds like adolescent grumpiness to me. He's making a bid to be boss. Less of a problem with Bella which I put down to her being female. The boxer was, and remains, more of a handful. He's a very dominant dog. Lovely to people (though subversive) but a bully to other dogs. We can only let him off the lead in enclosed places.

With Rocky we were told to underline our higher status a few times a day, not just when he was being confrontational. Firstly, control of food -- only let them start their meals on sayso. When grooming, spend some time rubbing the withers, which is a dominant gesture. Don't acknowledge him for a minute or so after a separation. And finally, regularly get them into an extended downstay. At least 10 minutes.

Don't mean to teach granny to suck eggs here, just sharing some things a behaviourist told us to do with Rocky. Much as I adore him -- and he is special -- I would think twice before getting another male dog in the future!

Wow, you sound like a highly experienced rider! I used to exercise a hunter (but no hunting!), but never did any competitive riding. Ah well, one day ...

  • I've been using ONA odour neutraliser for some time to get rid of the smell of our dog from our house and it works incredibly well. Not only does it completely get rid of the smell but it also works on other odour problems in the house...highly recommend the product
