Any poets out there???

Hi,

My best friend is going into hospital next week for an operation and I know (altough not showing it) she is a bit scared, so in my wisdom, I thought I would write her a poem, then realised I don't know where to start, so thought I would ask for help. I would like it to be witty so have included some details to work with.

Her name is Lauren
I met her when I was 17
I met her whilst on holiday is spain
She was skinny dipping in the sea at 7am
She has very curly hair (which people always feel the need to comment)
She has a very successful career, but at the weekend she turns into a party animal
She's very loyal, understanding, but also VERY opinionated
And last but not least (and I promise all the info I give is correct) she was born with 6 toes on each feet. Something that she tells people as soon as she meets them!!

Any help would be great, one liners or words as my mind is completley blank!!!

Lauren you're mad, crazy and insane
I met you at 17, you're the only one to blame
Back then with 12 toes i just couldnt get enough
Your curly hair nobody could tame
Your skinny dipping in the buff

Now you're in hospital wearing your gown
make sure its shut tight or everyone will frown
You dont want them to see your lovely curly hair
Dont tell them about 12 toes cuz nobody will care

Just concentrate on getting well
hurry up and back to me
i'll let you boss me around
i'll make you lots of cups of tea
I'll wait on you hand and foot (with lots of toes)
we'll chat and laugh and dance and sing
get better and get out of here

Is it possible to ask (vaguely) what she is having done in hospital? As her going in there is the reason for the poem.., it is something that would be good to integrate into the poem if possible.

mmmm....not really, she is having a malignant lump removed and the last few months have been very stressful, so wanted to try and intergrate our memories and friendship rather than that. Thank you for your reply

I dont really think it would be easy for anyone else to put something together for you as they dont know her and also might be nicer for it to be your thoughts rather than someone elses. Hope she gets out of hospital soon.

I asked some clever folk I know
to write a poem for you
Although they could do it,
They said it wouldn’t do
Because when it comes right from the heart
You won’t worry when it doesn’t scan
Or rhyme – so here's the start

It seems such a long time
Since we met in Spain
Your weird dozen digits
Nearly drove me insane.

You were naked and swimming
At 7am
I should have known better
And walked away then!

If I had though I’d have missed
Such a fabulous mate
Whose forceful opinions
Can leave some irate!

We’ve partied real hard
Well into the dawn

This little piggy I met Spain
and this little piggy became my friend

This little piggy loves a party
and this little piggy rocks on until the end

This little piggy is always there for me
and this little piggy is round the bend

This little piggy knows her mind
and this little piggy will always share

This little piggy is somewhat crazy
and this little piggy probably gets it from her hair

But most importantly this little piggy deserves the world
because this little piggy isnt afraid to bare

In the sea at early dawn
this little piggy gives it her all
