I have tried to post here several times but it wouldn't allow me for some reason...try again :)
Vet had a look and did some tests which we are waiting the results of, he didn't seem to be over worried though and mentioned all the things here plus others like him having swallowed something causng this by accident.

He'sjust had everyone's lunch and s stting here burping and purring happily so doesn't seem to be suffering at all. Waiting time until the next waillng trip to the vet.
Taxi driver askedme what was in the carrier making that odd noise, don't think he believed it was just a cat given the horrid babylike screeching :)

I moved and added tohos litter tray collection, and feed the other cats tuna so they get it down before he can nick it or lock them in different rooms...that seems to work better for everyone.

Hopeful for a good outcome now. :)

Thx for the help and concern, I hope this is allowed to be posted this time :)

Tuna is fine for an occasional treat but is not at all healthy as a regular food for your other cats - apologies if I have misunderstood your wording.

    A sad update.
The old guy was improving and all appeared to be on the up.
Last night I cam home and only the other 2 were there to meet me for their suppers...not the old boy.
I found him lying in my chair where he never sits, and when he tried to jump off to greet me his legs didn't hold him and he was flat out unable to get up again, he was out of it completely. I rang the useless vets who were zero help and wouldn't come out. sat with him for a couple of hours trying to give him water and a little food...no good, he passed away quietly just after midnight.
I'll be making him a resting place under a bush where he liked to lie in summer in the garden later today.

At least he seemed to be in no pain and was looking fine up until this sudden event...and he was spoiled rotten to make up for his crappy beginning in life.

House seems awfully quiet without his meowing for his brekky now though. Odd how a little furry thing missing can make such a hole isn't it?

Thanks for the advice and help here that made his last weeks better than they could have been, I appreciate it :)

I'm so very sorry to hear that, timmers. You must miss him terribly. You have my sympathy.

I think I'd change vets if I were you, though, when you're eventually feeling up to it.

    Sorry for your loss

Seriously can not understand everyone saying hyperthyroidism is cheap to treat. My old cat has a T4 every 6-12 months (it was every 3 months at first!), 2 different strengths of Vidalta alternative days, Fortekor daily and just the tablets alone cost at least £45 per month and thats with 20% off for being on the senior plan with the vets. The T4 costs about £30-£40.
