    It looks like you're already on the cheapest basic BT option - BT Together Option 1 (i.e. the £10.50 per month line rental if you pay by DD). Confusingly, that's also called 'The Hour Plan'. You've got nothing to save there.

    However, the Equipment Rental of £3.25 is a possible saving - most people buy their own telephone these days (I haven't rented anything from BT for over 20 years).

    There is potential to save on the £4.46 Network Services as well. I muddle through with the (free) 1471 and 1571 services but, if you need some of the fancy add-ons, BT will sting you for them.

    I'm not on any off the new BT options 1, 2 or 3. I also posted something similar.

    There was a package before the above was introduced something like BT Together local calls option or something can’t quite remember. My Bill only says BT together. I get all the perks of Option2 at the rate of 37.02.

    Therefore surely it isn’t worth moving over to talktalk as when the year ends I'll have to switch to option2 which will be far more expensive then it currently is.

    Looking at my bill it says Free Calls 234 - duration 27:29 Free

    Advice please, somebody must also be on this tariff, I know my brother is and we’ve had a letter stating why don’t you change to one of our new options….. Yeah right!

    Thanks.

    All I can say to that is:

    Tell BT you want to be on BT Together Option 1.

    Pay BT by DD.

    Sign up for TalkTalk1+* (to get free evening and weekend 01/02 calls for a year) or to OneTel StandardUKTalk (to get free weekend 01/02 calls for life and free 118111 Directory Enquires).

    Sign up for 1899 and/or 18866 and use them whenever your TalkTalk or OneTel calls aren't free.

    NEVER make calls on BT (unless they are 0845 or 0870 calls and you can't find a geographical alternative on SayNoTo0870.com).

    * This may change 1/2/05 because TalkTalk's offers change monthly.

    Not sure of all current rates but I believe 18866 and 1899 are normally higher pence per minute rates than TalkTalk for calls to mobiles in the evenings.

    True.

    Off peak:
    1899 charge 10p/minute to any UK mobile.
    18866 charge 12p/minute to any UK mobile.
    TalkTalk calls to Vodafone are cheaper than 1899/18866 @6p/minute;
    TalkTalk calls to T-Mobile are cheaper than 1899/18866 @ 8p/minute;
    BT Option 1/2/3 calls to Vodafone are also cheaper than 1899/18866 @ 6.31p/minute;
    BT Option 1/2/3 calls to T-Mobile are also cheaper than 1899/18866 @ 8.41p/minute.
