Is it better to sell with an online 'estate agent'?

Options
Hi, this is my first post here but have read lots of useful advice in the past.

We're almost ready to put our house on the market and have had valuations from three local estate agents, we have agreed (if we choose to go ahead) a fixed price offer from a local agent of £2000 which is less than 1% of our houses value. However, we are seriously considering using one of the online companies that for a fixed fee of around £500 will market our house on rightmove plus other sites and do all the arranging of viewings etc. Has anyone any experience of this or advice? Thank you.

Sorry, don't know the detail, but I know someone who sold their house that way, and thought it was great! Probably coincidence, but the house sold really quickly too, right in the middle of the period when very little property was shifting. Good luck.

well, i just used an online company for the hip and was very impressed. I've decided to use a high st solicitors tho for the sale - just seems too big a transaction to leave to an online co thats probably at the other end of the country to me. It is tempting tho when you think of the money you'll save.

do you pay upfront your £500? Then they could take their foot off the marketing pedal. online and they do the viewings? you are going cheap so would viewers think that too and wonder what cracks you've painted over and cowboy DIY and other corners you have cut.

    Just asking.....
