The only way to get a higher rate of Income Related ESA than ESA(C) is to get paid the Carers Premium or one of the various other premiums there are around. Unless you can do that then ESA(C) will be paid at a higher rate of ESA(IR).0

OP if your income is low enough you can apply for a HC2 Med Cert which gives you everything free
See here for details http://www.patient.co.uk/health/Free-or-Reduced-Cost-Prescriptions.htm
I had one on Contribution based JSA.
Other than that you can buy a prepay £28.25 for a 3-month PPC; and
£104.00 for a 12-month PPC. http://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/1127.aspx0 -
You cant relinquish ESA(C) to just get ESA(IR). So unless you qualify under the HC2 then you wont get free prescriptions.tigga_1961 wrote: »thanks for the reply but not sure i understand, i dont want or prob not entitled to a higher rate just if i can change from one to the other so i can at least get free prescriptions.:(0 -

Which can be paid for by a monthly direct debit of just over 10.00 per month.0
