Just looking at doing an online order at Donald Russell.
It's lovely meat but getting so expensive.
I just got 9 meals worth of steak/lamb from Asda for £14 for the freezer as it's pay week.
With Donald Russell it would be double that.
What price my conscience..............:o

I agree, it is fantastic stuff, but so expensive at full price. I generally only buy from their special offers - it's still pricey, but not excessively so (for example, last time I ordered some steak mince that was on special offer and it worked out about 5p per pack more than buying Tesco's own steak mince, which I thought was pretty reasonable).
I've seen a few recommendations on this board for more reasonably priced online butchers, so I might try one of those next time I want to do a large meat order for the freezer. (For smaller orders I use my local butcher, but their prices are a bit  too for buying large quantities!)

4 sirloin steaks reduced from £50 to £25  Originally £12.50 each reduced to £6.25  Fish pie reduced price £16 for 2-4 portions. If you don't like the meat you get in supermarkets why not try a local butcher to get good quality meat at less cost than your website.0

Can I ask what the others were? Would like to have a look to compare prices with our butcher.
Can I amend that to "I've seen a recommendation", please?I know I've seen several but, very carelessly, the only one I've bookmarked is http://www.douglaswillis.co.uk
I intend to give them a try when I've defrosted my freezer, as their prices look quite reasonable. I also intend to try another butcher local to me of which I've heard good things but is supposed to be less ouch-inducingly expensive than my local one.

www.clarebarry.co.uk are good - I have used them twice now. Far better than the supermarket but not quite as good as my outstandingly good but pricey localish butcher for sausages and mince. The roast beef was superb. I wouldnt hesitate to buy the beef packs again, and the turkey, and the chicken - but sausages and mince I will drive to Fishers of Breedon for.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0

I saw that.
I've had steaks from the, bought on offer.
The fillet was fantastic - but fillet always is isn't it.
The other steaks (2 rib eyes, 2 pave rumps) were OK but nothing amazing.0 -

This is the one I use every month and they are absolutely brilliant! It comes well packed and vaccum packed. The meat is delicious!Feb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790 -

Sounds very familiar, have spent ages rooting through the quagmire that is t'internet looking for something "I saw a while back" many a time0 -
Do you have a costco near you? Not an actual butcher, I know but my OH can't tell the difference between Donald's fillet and costco's - fillet their other meat, chicken and fish is very good quality too and about on a par with supermarket prices
If you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!

I've tried Donald Russell a couple of times. The meat is very nice, there's no question about that but I don't believe it's worth the price. The steaks are literally twice the price of my local butcher and I would suggest that my butchers are better.
Everything else is not as expensive as the beef products but is still more expensive than anywhere else.
You can get some great deals and that's what I suggest you do, I think where you're getting 1/2 to maybe 2/3 off, the price becomes acceptable. Currently there's an offer of 6 sirloin steaks and 4 packs of mince for £39 which looks like a good way to try them out.
As Techno says though, the meat from Costco is very good quality indeed. I've tried the ribeye steaks from there - they are literally a third of the price of Donald Russell and I reckon many people won't be able to tell the difference.
Of course, you might well find that your local butcher is an undiscovered treasure and far superior to any of these, worth a look maybe0
