Doctors Report?

Hallo - I've just failed a PCA, doesn't everybody? I think if you went in pushing a portable drip you would not be awarded points, get a friend to push it. If you know somebody in a vegetative state tell them not to blink when asked a question. If you go in dead, make sure rigor has set in first or you'll be classed "capable of bending".
Now the serious stuff. I'll not go into the struggles I've had in life but I think a decent Drs report would enhance my appeal. Maybe it's called a "Synopsis", anyway my welfare rights rep says she will contact my GP.
A friend thinks these reports are not really personal but more type written print outs which go back quite a number of years, detailing your visits, complaints, change of med etc etc. Has anybody seen their reports and can confirm this please?

No, not everybody fails the PCA.
Did you not submit a GP and specialists report with your IB50?
Your friend is wrong. The doctor will describe your current condition (and your history, where relevant), and what symptoms you have as a result of your condition. They will also detail any medication and other treatment you may receive.Gone ... or have I?0 -
In fact, most people pass the PCA-that's why ESA was invented!
The OP 's GP's report needs to be as comprehensive as possible, in particular on how the medical condition affects the OP. Unless the JCP Decision Maker/Appeal tribunal is provided with some new evidence, it's unlikely the original decision would be changed.0 -
No I did not submit anything from my GP, I believed Atos or the DWP request one. Also, a quote I'd seen from Benefits & Work: GPs are not under any obligation to provide supporting letters to patients, however. Some are happy to do so, some will not do so and some will only do so if paid.0

I think even if DWP do ask for one, I think you should do. I've had no problems getting any form of evidence from my GP or any specialists I see. In fact, one who has just discharged me, always sent me letters telling me (and my GP) results of tests and anything else relevant.Sealed pot challenge #232. You should have submitted a report from your GP. I have only ever been aware of one case where a GP refused to submit a report for a patient, and that was because they did not agree that the claimant should be in receipt of benefits. Have you actually asked your GP if they will do a report for you?
If you wish to appeal it would be a good idea to seek assistance from CAB or DIAL. Do not rely on information from the internet unless you are confident in what you are doing.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Well regardless the next step now is the appeal. If I sent my GP a letter asking him to clarify certain things I would have to show the tribunal it and they of course may consider whether I coersed him. So alternately I'm also not sure if I should have a meeting with him. As I've seen different doctors in the surgery over time and want to make sure the dr that receives the letter will do me justice.0

I saw a very professional looking lady from the Welfare Rights today who is launching my appeal and requesting a report from my doctor.0

You need to go and see the person that will be writing the report. Be aware that you cannot influence the report in order to ensure it will 'do you justice', the GP will provide a balanced medical report.Gone ... or have I?0

Just noticed this posting as I have a similar problem.
The ESA50 does NOT suggest/request/ask for any evidence - and as such believed that DWP/ATOS would look for ALL available evidence to give a fair decision.
Been to my GP & Consultants for a report for the appeal and they quoted the DWP instructions that they are under no obligation to prepare reports for patients. They will if the DWP/ATOS request them and want to be paid for the work. I understand in my area that this is going to be the norm from now on. (cited lack of time to do them, and cost).
As regards help for appeal, no welfare rights exist here except CAB. To be honest, she was a young girl in 1st year University doing a law degree and completely useless. I have to use the internet and represent myself!
I am putting a posting on this new line re reports and hope that someone can help.0 -
I have answered your other thread andyandflo, are you sure your council does not have a Welfare Rights Officer? They are often not well publicised.Gone ... or have I?0
