No VAT Receipt provided

Hi All

I recently bought a camera from Amazon - however it was sold and dispatched from another company.

The item is fine, however they won't provide a VAT receipt.

I wanted one to claim back off my company, and find it frustrating that they can't provide a VAT receipt. The item was brand new.

I have asked if it can return it back and am waiting a reply. However, do I have any other rights here?

They can only give you a VAT receipt if they are VAT registered.

As above, they can only provide a VAT receipt if they are VAT registered, and if they're not then the camera was sold without VAT anyway so you wouldn't have anything to claim back.
  • OP, did you ask for a VAT receipt? I do not normally issue them to Joe Public

Was it dispatched by Indigo Starfish (an Amazon owned company)? If so they are in Jersey, and so not in the EU - they can't provide you with a VAT receipt as their sales are outside the scope of the EU taxation system

You have a short window [x days [7/14??]] to return under DSR for a full refund [iirc including P&P unless they say this is excluded in their T&Cs].

Would have to double check the postage as Jersy's DSR is slightly different to the UK's
    Back by no demand whatsoever.
