maternity pay

hello

just found out missus is pregnant .she had to have time of in dec 09(4 weeks)2 weeks april 10 not to do with being pregnant.we don,t know what her boss is going to say as she is probaly going to need more time of.

my question is what are we entiled to
i work 16 hrs week gets paid every calender month £388
we get already ctc,wtc
are we entiled to maternity pay(as she only earns the above amount so does,nt pay stoppages.

    down to her employer if she will get maternity pay or not. Check her employee handbook

    Maternity pay for when? When she is due to have the baby or when she is off with other issues?....Confused!

    Given you work two days a week, can you not ask for more hours at work or look for a second part time job to cover the shortfall?

    She needs to have been earning an average of £97 a week to qualify for SMP.

    When you say she is probably going to need more time off do you mean maternity or more sick leave? She's already had 6 weeks off in 5 months which is a huge amount of sick leave.

    I agree with LondonDvia, if you only work 2 days a week it makes sense that you look for full time work before the baby arrives.

    my partner earning £97 a week(gets paid 4 weekly£388 doesn,t pay stoppages)i mean maternity leave.the bosses where she works knows she
    would not have time of unless it was necessary as first it was hernia op,then she was sent home when she done her back in(found out it was siatic.before this no time of since she started with them 2ys ago

    Maternity leave has nothing to do with sick leave. Maternity leave only happens when she is leaving work to have the baby. You cant use it to take time off before that, as its a continuous time off.
    If she is having days off sick then its totally seperate to maternity leave and up to the employer if she is getting paid for these days or not.

    Do what most dads to be do go and get a full time job, you wife being pregnant doesn't 'always' entitle you to anything !
