Where to start???

Hi all

I'm a 30yr old mature student with no assets or savings and approx £5k of debt plus the student loan debt which I need to get me through Uni.

I have suffered with depression and a number of addictions in the past but Uni is marking a new start for me yet I am scared about money generally. I worry about Pensions and ever being able to afford my own place to live (rent or buy), nevermind finding work.

Where should I start in terms of sorting out my finances? Or should I wait until after Uni?

Any advice would be greatfully received.

The first thing is not to worry about the debt for your fee and maintenance loan as you pay nothing until you finish university and start earning 15,000 or more.

Regarding your other debt; are you managing to make the minimum payments or are you in default with any of them?

In general,have you though of making an appointment with the university's counselling service as it sounds as if it might be all getting on top of you at the moment.
