Hi,

I have claiming tax credits for the past few years. I am married. My wife until 3 months ago was unemployed.

We have no kids. We are living with my parents shortly to move out to a house i have just bought. We dont live in London (dont know if this is relevant).
My Income is £16000 per year.

We have a joint claim. We are currently receiving in the region of £54 per month.

My question is this. Not doubting the calculators at the Tax credits office..does this figure sound correct to all you experienced people?

    HI

You will need to let hmrc know about your wife's job and income to prevent a possible overpayment - you need to do that today. .

Is the £16,000 your income alone or the joint income?

Off the top of my head, if you have a joint income of more than £17,000 you wouldn't be entitled to working tax credits any more (this is just from memory so hopefully someone will be along soon to clarify)
