Doubt you will find any deals. Both ferry companies know they have you by the b***s during the school summer holidays and so therefore have no need to reduce prices.0

Do you have any Tesco vouchers? I know I used mine last year and am hoping to get a free trip this year again.0

I found i slightly hidden way of doing the car over and back. If you go into day trips on stena line there is an option of doing a day trip by car including 4 people. Selected sailings but only costs £110. so book 2 different day trips one from NI to Scotland and one from Scotland to NI 4 days later. Just do use the return part of each one.
should come out at 2200 -
Might be worth reading the T&C for day trips, could end up being rather expensive!

try codes A450 or A622 (enter on 1st page before getting quote)
it's off flexi fares but may work out cheaper than economy at full price
also don't forget quidco0 -
Why not go as a foot passenger and get Car Hire from Stranraer?
Done it before, worked well.0 -

I did think of booking 2 daytrips too.
So? ... you are unable to complete the return journey, unless you've traveled on the outward journey earlier that day.
What is to stop me:- booking a daytrip from Belfast to Stranraer at the start of our holiday and just not turning up for the return leg (£110); and
- booking a single trip from Stranraer to Belfast at the end of the hols (£132)?
The standard return fare is £264 - £242 = £22.
Have I missed something? That would buy a nice lunch out!0 -
Bump.
I need to book the trip this would and love some advice on this.0 -
i used to book two day trips and just not use the return on each between stranrear and belfast, i either booked through a prepaid credit card or by travel agent, so if it was ever spotted they couldnt debit any extra payments , but that was when it was £50 on a mid-week day , see now that up to £110:eek::eek::eek: , weekend used to be £100 but a rise of £60 for week days ,thats a bit rediculous
i used to get my car to ireland and back for £100 all in ,
it was the planes been grounded due to volcanic ash that bumped the price up , they certainly know how to take advantage of those in a jam
but as usual they never bring the price back down again after :mad::mad:
now ive only got a van and traveling there and back now costs me £360 odds
i'd book 2 day trips and if they ever spot you didnt take the return just say you had car issues ???0 -
Hi b4be
I work for Stena line and as pointed out higher up the prices do go up during the summer as it is based on demand just the same as the airlines.
£360 for a can is a bit steep - if you want to send me a private message i can look into that for you.
