Hi, I was just wondering if I have any rights concerning my tv. I bought it in august 2007 and it now has 4 vertical lines on the screen I contacted panasonic and they just told me to contact my local panasonic dealer and ask for someone to come and look at it at my cost. I paid over £800 for this tv and Im not sure how long is a reasonable time for this to last, I would think it should last at least 5 yr but maybe im wrong. Any suggestions please.

You contract is with the retailer not the Panasonic. It is reasonable to expect your TV to last more than it has but under the Sale of Goods Act if you want the retailer to provide a repair/replacement or partial refund then the onus is now on you to prove that the problem is a result of an inherent manufacturing fault, hence why you were advised to have someone look at it and provide a report. It will be at your cost but if it indeed proves to be a manufacturing fault you should be able to reclaim this cost from the retailer.0
