Am I missing something - if they have to stop the cheaper sign online deals then how can they be offering a new one with their sign online 18?
I estimate it will cost me £200 more so duly switched today although have to say they seemed thoroughly confused when I phoned them as advised on my letter and asked for my prices to be fixed until I actually moved as per their letter (I can't believe I am the only one to ask for this to be done?)

“… and because of the requirements of our supply licence, we’re changing the rates of some of our online tariffs from the 7th May…”
This is yet another of the deliberately misleading statements Npower is so fond of making. It surely can’t be right for a licensed energy supply company to spoon feed its customers with such baloney.
Incidentally, I wonder if it is more than just coincidence that Npower is trying to get its gas-sculpted customers to move away from sculpted tariffs, and onto a flat rate standing charge, just as they are emerging from the high loaded winter months into the very low loaded summer months, thereby giving Npower a massive hidden financial advantage over those customers who leave.
I was all set to stay with SOL 10 until October in order to enjoy cheap gas through the summer months (making up for the high cost winter months), but I found that OVO was offering a good fixed rate, and I signed up just before the fixed price went up. I took the view that Npower would keep raising their price on my tariff until I left, and that it would be best to go now.
Like you, I intend to give Npower notice of my switch to another supplier, in order to keep my gas supply at the old prices until my switch is completed.0
