Furniture Village - Fabric Treatment/Insurance

Hi All,
My girlfriend just purchased a sofa we'd decided on from Furniture Village. She opted to pay £105 which covers the sofa for 5 years against any spills, tears, stains, discolouration, burn marks etc. Apparently they treat the fabric with something before it's sent to you.
Is this a good deal or a con? I'm always reluctant to go for these kind of deals as would have thought we could just clean the sofa if it gets dirty (though this is supposed to prevent that). Can always opt out of it if we do so in the next couple of days.
What says all of you?
Cheers

Well my sister may disagree with this as used to work for a furniture company but not sure what she thought of it tbh.
Lets put it this way..we bought a cream sofa years ago from Harveys and were told it would never last as dd was young..we took the risk! it was cleaned by us over the years and was like new when we sold it and we had it for almost 4 years..i became a childminder in this time too so you can imagine the amount of hands etc on it! We sold it off the top of my head for £100 or £150 no probs which i didnt think was bad.
Our now sofa (FV) is much bigger and dark brown so again thought no marks would show..our cat was sick on it and we panicked as furniture village said only to use their guys at a cost of £75 for one cushion ..we took it to morrisons in the end..huge gamble but it cost £3.40p and came up like new! STILL need to get the rest done so its all been done but after waffling my point is NO cancel it!!0
