the thermostat has gone on my cannon gas cooker. as an educated guess does anyone out there know whether it is going to be more moneysaving to get a new thermostat and someone to install it or buy a new cooker with an average price of £280

this is going to make sense. i am a little more in the know now but still dont know. i have rang cannon to check how much spare part and fitting would be and it is £74.21 for thermostat and £75 for someone to come and fit it. so nearly £150 BUT to buy a new cooker for £300 also has additional cost of connection and whoever connects it says the old one has to be disconnected first!! so god knows what that will cost and if i buy a slightly more expensive cooker that has connection included what about the disconnection of the old one??? my head is spinning0

It sometimes helps to say where you are..Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Your local independent gasfitter would probably charge less, and obtain the part at a more competitive place too.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
