Is there a cooling off period after purchasing train tickets over the internet even if they are marked as discounted non-refunable tickets?

Simple answer No....Distance Selling Regs do not apply to train tickets"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

Put simply, because you know exactly what you are buying when you are ordering.
There is no reason why you would want to "physically inspect" a train ticket, concert ticket, sporting event ticket, etc bought from a legitimate outlet. The Distance Selling Regulations are designed to help those who, for example, have bought clothing online that may not fit or furniture that they later find isn't suitable.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Been asked here before, so here's some more info and discussion as to why they aren't covered :

* personalised goods or goods made to a consumer's specification
This bit is the rationale behind a very clever scam going on at the moment.
It involves a 'mock auction' type set-up. Smooth talking French bloke eventually gets you to give your credit card details for a £2500 dinner service [worth £50] and here's the clever bit ...it's personalised with your intiials, so you can't cancel after the scam evening because they say 'Oh, too late we've started production'. Very clever.
And yes, it's unbelieveable that people would be so 'stupid' to give over their details etc, etc, etc......but it happens [usually because of strong manipulation and conditioning by the scammers].Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Is it not the same reason Apple offer "free" engraving on iPods when you buy from their online store?0

It could very well be, but it is what sets Apple apart from other retailers by offering to go that extra mile! If i was going to by my OH a iPod Touch then i would not want to return it!:beer:In My 'Permanant' Pre-Masters Gap Year
