thanks all for input. i checked and i can port my mortgage which opens up our options. although i can't port the full 160k as a solo applicant as they now only allow 4x income multiples. although if we go joint we can go up to 5x our joint incomes.

sadly the bungalow is now sold stc. but i don't want to rush into a housebuying move just yet. did look good though......:(

Nice looking place. The multiples being offered by Abbey are pretty scary - thought the banks would have learned by now

That are is pretty much Herts borders I guess and could be affected by Stansted flight paths. Also Harlow is a pretty mixed type of area as far as socio economic factors, so depends on how that fits in with where you want to be.

Personally I would rather be nearer Chelmsford than Harlow but your money may not stretch as far I guess

i've done some walks out that way and not noticed the flight path. also 'mixed socio economic factors' are a plus in my book. plus near a station with good links to london.

Was it recently when the airport was closed! :p

Good luck - we looked at a similar kind of bungalow a few years back and the living on one floor seems to make the place feel more spacious so I can certainly see the attraction
