A question RE: Uni Bursaries

Hey all,
Because the Uni I plan to study at charges the full £3000, apparantly I'm entitled to a bursary of around £300. Do I have to apply for this, or will the Uni automatically give it? Also, is it a bursary for tuition fees, or maintenance, ie, will I physically see the £ or not?

  • u need to apply to local lea for a student finance form. they will send u it and all u need to do is fill it in and take it back to them or post it to them and they will asses ur parents income if u r a dependant or work out how much money u have been paid last year if u rnt and depending on the income depends on how much they will give u.

U can get a non means tested busary for £1200 and means tested for upto £2700 (depending on the income) and then the university should give u the rest to make up the £3000 if u r allowed to get the full amount available.

Try the student support website: https://www.studentsupportdirect.co.uk

    Hope that helps.

  • If you've applied for LEA funding (i.e. your student loan), then the university you go to should automatically be notified of your qualification for extra funding from them.

Yes, you do actually get the money paid into your account (it wont be subtracted from tuition fees, or something like that).

You might want to check with the individual university what funding/bursaries they offer, and chances are they will probably write to you about it after results day.

    Hope this helps!
