A friend of mine has pranged her motability car - she is very worried about it and wondered if any of you could fill me in on the process of what happens and will she have to pay anything? ...then i can pass it on.
(its not a write off - just reversed into something that she didnt see - but reasonable damage to the car)
As always - thank you for your help x

tell her to ring the insurance company and explain, if its drivable they might leave it i did in the merivea i put the door out and crushed the the frount of car i rang them and said im happy to keep it that way and they sent me a cover note saying they are aware of the damage, but its diffrent if someone else was involved, someone went in the back of me a made a tiny dent , so the insurance charged the other party for damage and a hire care0

Thank you - it appears the 'other party' involved was a brick wall !!!! lol x0

Unless she becomes a serial "pranger" there is nothing to worry about. The insurance is fully comp and will cover repairs "self-inflicted."0

though she will still need to pay the £75 excess0

Thank you everyone - have passed your messages on and we are both very grateful x0

motability allow for ' wear and tear ' details on website .0

if it comes under fair wear and tear then you wouldn't pay
if it is serious you need to sort it before you hand it back to them0 -
Parking/door dents, scratches and damage from wheelchair are normally classed as wear and tear. Don't know if it will affect your good condition bonus if the car is in a tatty/rough condition.
If you claim from the insurance company you will only have to pay £75 excess if you are over 25 i think. You will lose your good condition bonus of £200 (don't know the exact figure) when you hand the car back in.
Try not to make a lot of claims because they might refuse to re-insure you on your next mobility car.Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problemsWell at least i learn something on the way

I've pranged my motability vehicles a few times and its very easy to get it sorted out. Just ring RSA claims and tell them whats happened. They sort everything out and all you have to pay is the £75 excess.
Its quite worrying when it happens, as you feel, this car is on lease and I should protect it with my life, but its just a car, like any other. Tell her not to worry, it'll be fine.Me transmitte sursum, caledoni0
