    I don't understand. I want to use google. It's just that whenever I click it always loads a search for google .co.uk. I am trying to stop it loading this search. Any offers

    I had a few minutes of being unable to connect to google earlier on ( through Firefox)
    - wonder if there was a problem somewhere?
    I gave up, shut down the computer and tried again later, It all seems OK now.

    Actually this is incorrect advice. There are indeed very few Mac viruses in the wild, but I have personally seen and manually removed two incidences of a Mac trojan that exactly hijacks the users' search engines in the manner the OP describes.

    Thanks for your responses. I am also having this problem with yahoo as well and each time i try to click on one the search results it directs me to searchwebway3 website and then to some shopping site:mad:

    anyway, i ran the malwarebytes program and got the following log (apparently there were 14 infections which it removed!) this personal security gave me a major headache about a month ago but I thought I had removed it by running windows in safe mode and rolling back to a previous time point, but its obviously still there:mad:

    here's the log...please let me know what you think...

    They all say NO ACTION TAKEN ~
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Uninstall\PersonSecurity (Rogue.PersonalSecurity) -> No action taken.

    Please rescan with malwarebytes and make sure you then TICK them then FIX them

    Download HostsXpert
    http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Hoster-Download-27041.html
    and then follow the below steps.

    * Unzip HostsXpert.zip
    * It will create a folder named HostsXpert in whatever folder you extract it to.
    * Run HostsXpert.exe by double clicking on it.
    * click the Make Writeable? button.
    * click Restore Microsoft's Hosts File and then click OK.
    * Click the X to exit the program

    Then post a fresh hijack log up
    :idea:

    Hi,

    I did select Malwarebytes to fix and remove them, but nothing seems to have happened? I will re-scan and also try the other donload you mentioned.

    Thanks,

    Esh
