Postal concern

I apologise if this has been posted in the wrong place, but I couldn't find an appropriate section for it.
I've received two items of junk mail (insurance marketing) sent to my address in someone else's name and I'm a bit concerned about it. This name/address combination has clearly been used somewhere and subsequently passed on via a mailing list. I'm struggling to see what might have been gained out of doing this though.
I live at 'Close' and there is a 'Crescent' of the same name around the corner and this has often confused both the post office and various couriers. We sometimes receive their mail and they have received ours, but the letters have always been addressed correctly before and have just been mis-delivered. The exchange of letters has always been fairly one-sided; they have rarely come round with any of our post, despite a fair number of expected items going astray over the years. A few months ago we took them a mail order item that a courier had left with one of our neighbours and they were very offhand about it. Not very nice people at all.
From this, I know that the person whose name is on the letters in question lives at 'Crescent'.
It is possible that this name/address combination has arisen out of an innocent mix-up.
However, I would like to know if there is anything to be concerned about and if so, how I can get to the bottom of it.
I have obtained my credit report but this only shows that no-one is impersonating me or hijacking any of my credit accounts.
How can you find out if someone has used your address who isn't entitled to?

Check the postcodes. If they are different it is probably just a mistake.0

From what you've said, my first thought is that it is just a mistake, but keep an eye on your credit reports and bank accounts for a while just to be on the safe side. I'd have a word with the Post Office if you start getting anything to do with credit cards, loans etc.
Is there any chance you abbreviate your street name?[STRIKE]Seventeen[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]Eighteen[/STRIKE] Nineteen(!) year old student - dim at the best of times0 -
Surprisingly no-one has ever abbreviated 'Close' to 'C'. For the 15 years we've been here, all the post we've received or had brought round has been addressed correctly, just put through the wrong letter box sometimes. Seems very strange that suddenly there is the name of the person from 'Crescent' with our address and post code.0

Somebody has clearly cloned your address, I would change all the locks and check every bank statement religiously.0
