Ipod to I-tunes troubles

Basically as the title says , am trying to put all of my music and photos and videos from my ipod back into my I-tunes library.Found a post on here telling me how to do it and tried but couldnt manage it totally.
About a Month ago I had to have my laptop restored to factory settings as I couldnt roll it back to a saved date. After trying to transfer my stuff using the above post I kept getting a message saying that my ipod is synced with another library and can only be synced with one library at a time.
Got the message about either erasing and syncing my ipod with my itunes library (empty) or to transfer purchases from ipod to itunes library ( which I imagine is the 3 or 4 albums I bought off itunes store and not the 30 odd albums that I put on from my CD collection ?)
Is there any other way of transfering it back as I'm scared of trying anything that might wipe my ipod ?
Thanks :money:

How much have you got on your iPod that CAN'T be imported into iTunes again from CDs or music folders? Is there anything on your iPod that's totally irreplaceable?

Approx. 50 cd's and about half a dozen half hours of family camcorder stuff.Would perfer not formatting my ipod if possible.
As it states when I hook up my ipod that it is synced to another computer , could I authorise my current laptop ( that I was originally using before had to factory resest it) to enable my ipod to sync with it ?
Or am I getting confused by it :o ?
    Thanks

no,you will have to wipe it for any new sync
if the files are not on the PC then itunes will wipe the ipod
so get all the files off the ipod onto the pc first

Have tried to get my ipod contents onto my computer using the steps from a post on here.Get to the point of dragging folders (All called F**) into my itunes but wont let me quite do it.
Will try again tonight but get the impression that will have to wipe it clean and start again.
Have got about 80% backed-up onto my archos mp4 but didnt back up anything for the past month or 2 (ie camcorder stuff and the pictures from our last few days out/birthdays etc.)
could really do with saving the pictures though
    Thanks

Have copied all the files from my ipod onto my hard drive ( a total of 49 folders). These folders are music , video and podcasts but no pictures.
Have set my i-tunes to automatically add music but it isnt doing this.
Am having to maunually add file to library ( ie one song at a time from each of the 49 folders) as it wont even allow me to drag and drop into my itunes music .This will take me quite a while but if this is the only way to do it , so be it.
Just wondered why the photos werent copied into my hard drive from my ipod though ?
Any ideas if there is something that I'm not doing correct or missing ?

    Thanks

Why aren't you using the 'Add folder to library' dialogue?

However, you said 50 CDs and some camcorder footage - is the iPod the ONLY place where you have the footage? If you have it elsewhere (still on the camcorder or tapes therefrom), you can import it into iTunes again.

Likewise, the CDs may take a while, but can still be done as long as you still have the CDs

Podcasts - it SHOULD be possible to drag them from the Podcast folder within the Music folder to the Podcast folder under the new iTunes folder structure

Footnote; I don't have anything on my iPod that I can't get from somewhere else. Likewise with iTunes. Anything that comes in as a podcast gets copied and saved elsewhere if I want to keep it. CDs are still in the collection and can be re-loaded to iTunes. Other music in mp3 folders elsewhere on the PC. etc etc
