Yay I got an allotment today
:j:j
I've been on the waiting list for years, I got a call today to come down to the site as a plot was free... and I snapped it up on the spot as it were:j
£22 per year + £5 joining fee not bad I think.
It has millions of weeds and a mouse but has a nice south facing aspect and also has loads of fruit bushes that have been left.
I'm just a little worried about clearing it but on the whole :j:beer::j:T:j

Fantastic , enjoy ! I have had my allotment for 4 years now and love it. Lovely to inherit some fruit bushes, Recommend clearing a section and getting some plants/seeds in then continuing clearing the rest . There is loads of good advice of the Green fingers section.0

I got my first one in feb this year and i'm in love i swera...clearing is a pain, i'm still not completly done, but i cleared it a section at a time and i seem to be getting there, some things are in and some beds are ready for when it warms up!
Well done with the fruit bushes, i found a gooseberry bush and some rhubarb on mine so i know the joy!
Have fun and ask everyone here if you get stuck.....xliving for the sunshine is the only way to live0 -
That sounds too good a bargain! £22 for a whole year????
Well done - I'm sure you'll easily make that back. Good luck with it.0 -
Yes I thought at first he meant £22 a month! Total Bargain!
I will def only do small bits at a time no worries! I still have a garden at home to deal with!
There are some small makeshift raised beds ( that don't have any soil in them) that I can make a start with and there are 3 compost heaps (3!) to investigate.
Guess I will have a sore back after the weekend!Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0 -
Lucky you Nodwah!
I have been on the list for a couple of years and recently had a phone call from a local privately run allotment to ask what type of allotment I wanted. Still waiting for news....Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Good luck nodwah - £22 a year, BARGAIN!!. If you're quick you can reap that back in runner beans alone (supermarket prices 7.5p per bean:eek:).
Enjoy!! :T:T0 -
