Telephone Scam + Nigeria

Hi,

I received a phone call about half an hour ago from an unknown caller. As we have had a spate of cold calling, I answered in order to tell them quite clearly that they should not be ringing me...when I answered there was a man shouting 'hello, hello' etc and a baby crying in the background. I was on the phone for 5seconds before I hung up in a panic thinking my phone might have been cloned!!

I rang O2 lost and stolen as customer service was shut: they have put a block on all outgoing calls until tomorrow when I can speak to customer services. I realise from what I have read that I probably overreacting and it's 'just' a scam but I wondered if anybody else had experienced it - am 25 weeks pregnant and need to sleep, not worry lol

Phone number was 02348038110493 - i have looked on whocallsme and nothing doing, but managed to get country code from reverse look up, and it is from Nigeria.

Thanks

Hysterical, pregnant and very tired!!

:-)

The CEO of the National Bank of Nigeria was probably having childcare problems as well as problems transferring funds outside the country

I wouldn't worry about it.. unless you get another call with a meowing boy in which case get the hell out of the house and call the Ghostbusters.

I'm a bit confused as well as to why it is a scam?

As for wrong number, if anyone knows a Julian who isn't getting any calls on his mobile it is because he has given them my number and not his own. I get more calls for 'Julian' than I do for myself. :(

Tell them Julian has run off to Gretna Green with Barry to formalise their Civil Partnership and will get back to them after the honeymoon.

So you receive a phone call from abroad, and that makes you believe your phone has been cloned??
