Nationwide FlexAccount Info

Looking up on the Nationwide site & either they're not very informative or i'm just totally missing it.
I have one of these accounts for myself. My brother & sister still have the same accounts they've had since they were little kids. My brother is 18 in Sept, my sister was 19 in Feb.
Am i right in thinking you don't get charged for using the Via Debit card FlexAccount abroad?
I just figure it'd benefit them to at least have this account open if the above is true (they're soon to go abroad), even if they don't put much in the account.

Commission-free card use abroad
We are the only high-street provider that doesn't charge you commission if you use your card abroad*. Some competitors charge up to 2.75% for buying goods or services and withdrawing cash abroad.
* We will pass on a Visa charge for foreign transactions outside of the Visa Europe Region.

There are no fees within Europe, but there are fees outwith Europe.0 -
it's totally free within the Visa Europe region and 1% is charged everywhere else.
even with the 1% there is still no fixed fee and hence it is far better than using a travel money service or competitor's card0
