Hi
Im having a Mackintosh themed wedding, which is similar in its art noveau. At forst when people asked me if I was having a theme I thought " dont be daft ! ".
However the venue was art noveau and I have found having a them has helped keeping things tied together and me focus.
I kept to three simple colours, bought stamps for my invitations and downloaded art noveau fonts for stationary.
Art deco covered a huge area so I definately have lots to choose from - jazz, beads, feathers, glass etc.
This is art deco mood board for wedding ideas .Here is some more suggestions and links to Art deco .
Good luck x0 -
We've ended up with 2 themes!
as were getting married on bonfire night we've gone for oranges, ambers & reds in decorations, flowers etc.
it's also a bit 50's rock'n'roll, my dress and accessories are 50's inspired and we're having a 50's rock'n'roll band to dance the night away to.0 -

I love Art Deco! If you can get a venue that is of that era (or has a similar feel) then this would be really easy to do. Even an older building would fit perfectly. I'm not sure that an Art Deco theme in a modern building would be as easy to get right.
For my 20's and 30's themed thirtieth I've been researching costumes and decor using Poirot! I love that show and the outfits and sets are just gorgeous. Perhaps you could use that as a starting point?0 -
Ours is Art Nouveau/Deco/Vintage Glam. Lots of crystals, bridesmaids in greek column dresses, I have vintage jewellery etc. Seems a popular one!0

They are really lovely, and i was thinking about seeing what i could get for my bridesmaids etc as a present.
I have this;
which is lovely, but wont be any good with a wedding dress, so i may have to drop bigger hints to my OH!
It is lovely as most of its not too childish either.
will now spend ages looking online at all the pretty bits!

The overall feeling I want is something informal.
I guess if there's any theme, it'll be rural countryside; eg, my flowers will be british seasonal / wild flowers.
Will probs go minimal on deccies as the venue is pretty as it is.
Oooooo very similar to me! What are you doing flower-wise? Im trying to grow wild ones on my teeeeny balcony. Shall have to see if it works!0 -
We're having a seaside theme as the venue is already decorated that way, it made sense! Oh and it overlooks the sea

Centrepices are column vases with water, glass marbles and pearl strands and a blue floralyte. Table confetti is small seashells. Scallop shells with glass beads added for "feet" hold the big double sized tealights. Favour boxes are baby blue with midnight blue organza bow. Pearls decorate the BM's, the cake, flowers and me! I found it was easy once I had a theme to stay on track and hopefully (wedding is Saturday ) it will all pull together on the day.
Oh! and the invitations were postcards of our initials drawn on the beach and the date of the wedding in a heart0 -

I'll probs only have flowers for my bridesmaids & myself, not too clued up on the types of flowers but I have an idea in my mind.
The venue has lots of plants & trellisses around, so I'll not bother adding to the natural decorations!
Good luck with the plant growing!0 -
Our theme is "no theme"! Or rather, a laid back day of drinks and food!
1 dress is ivory with embroidery adn sequins (sounds weird but is lovely) -

The other is a full length sand gold strapless gown, with puddle train!
So flowers neutral ivory/yellow natural british flowers and herbs.
I love the art deco theme - I found some lovely invites in art deco (and they used eltham palace as the name on the invites!). I thought OH would love them as we refurbished an art deco flat (technically was streamline modern, as was American style art deco!) and we love that era - but he hated them!
I also like the art nouveau idea, am a major William Morris fan!Give yourself a Chistmas bonus £14 a week!
Total so far £280
