Where to turn Ocean/LMC/Sterling

Hi, just wondered if we could get some advice, my husband took out a loan with ocean finance back in oct 2002, they put the loan with london mortgage company, PPI insurer was sterling insurance (who we have only just found out about), we spoke to sterling insurance about the ppi as we found that it was a single premium policy over 5 years and loan/mortgage was for 20 years. Sterling said that the complaint was with the selling of the ppi which was LMC and then they wrote to us and said that it was ocean and they would pass this on to them, we sent the complaint to LMC who said also it was Ocean finance as it was the misselling of the policy, so we forwarded the complaint to them who came back to us and said that they were not the company who sold the policy as it was a company called Alabaster (CI) Limited, who ceased trading december 2004 and that they didnt hold any professional indemnity insurance, they were incorporated in jersey and was permitted to use the name 'Ocean Finance' in advertisements for the purpose of soliciting applications from the public for the granting of personal loans.
I just wonder where we stand now and what we should do.

christine

Hi Christine
Maybe it would be a good idea to ring the FOS and explain your situation, they may be able to help and write to whoever is responsible on your behalf, especially as it seems that you have been messed around with this case.
The FOS should be able to help, good luck, please keep us posted.
