Help with wireless connection please, advice much appreciated

Hi guys

I want to connect two PCs using my wireless BT connection, is this possible without extra charges? I spoke to them and they said yes but just want to check if someone has a similar setting?

If this is possible, do I just download the cd on both machines?

Thank you in advance x

    Yes you can have as many computers as you want going through the connection, and probably it would be best for you to use the CD on both machines. It's not like pay tv where they charge for each tv with access.

    I was able to connect from the laptop on which the original CD was installed. When I try to connect to the netbook (which does not have a CD drive) I get the error message 'Wireless Capabilities are swtitched off'. Not really sure how to switch them on or what these are :o:o Further advice please? :D

    Probably just needs to be activated. You should have a netbook manual to check how to do this.

    It's probably Fn + one of the F keys at the top of the keyboard (e.g. Fn + F9) - just look for wireless symbol drawn on one of the F keys. When you press it, it'll probably light up somewhere on the laptop to let you know that wireless is activated. If you click on the network icon on your system tray (near the time), it should show a list of wireless networks you can connect to. Click on yours and press connect, and put in the wireless key (password) when it asks.

    Thank you for your help. I am still struggling with this.

    I have pressed FN and then F11 and a wireless icon appeared on the screen. (Actually, two wireless icons appeared, one with a red cross against it).

    I am still unable to connect, although I have restarted the wireless router as suggested by Win 7.

    Under BTHomeHub2-GKG8 Wireless Network Properties, I have the following:

    Security Type: 'No authentication' (Open);
    Encryption type: WEP
    Security key: I have taken this from the card BT sent me;
    Key index: 1

    Am I doing anything wrong? Thank you in advance x

    Login to the router using the working pc, and check what the encryption type and password are.

    Wep isn't very secure, wpa is better

    Some BT internet packages charge extra if you go over a download limit, so while normally with most isp's you can have loads of pc's attached, with BT you could get charged more if you download too much.

    you may have bluetooth aswell - which is the other icon. Usually they go through a cycle when you try to activate them :
    Both off,
    Wireless on Bluetooth off
    Wireless on Bluetooth on
    Wireless off Bluetooth on
    Both off.
    or something similar
