Have a look on www.castrol.com There is a place on there where you type in reg no., and it lists the oil for your car.

You will also need to know the service cycle you are on as there will be 2 different oils for your car.

The coolant needs to be to the correct VW spec, not just red, as some have been known to cause problems with the system. Check the handbook and the label on the bottle.

The traditional greeny/blue coolant is harder to differentiate if something such as a gasket leak causes contamination. With the bright pink coolant you are more likely to spot a problem sooner, assuming you perform regular checks.

Will I be better of going to my VW Dealer?

    Oil choice http://www.millersoils.net/1_Millers_frame_AUTO_WHICH_ENGINE_OIL.htm

But do see if the VW dealer is sensible in their pricing, or are vharging top £$£ .

The coolant isn't going to be much of a saving by using the 'wrong' one, so get that at VW themselves.

"comma xtream red" antifreeze is a good longlife anti freeze which meets vw spec. its usually around £15 for a gallon.

not sure about your engine oil but highly likely to be a vw spec 5w30 synthetic oil.

For the coolant, it's G12++ I would have thought.

I buy mine direct from the Volkswagen dealer.. from the Parts Department within in the Showroom. Something like £8. I'm a lot more comfortable buying the stuff VW use themselves, direct from VW, rather than some other-name make.

It's pinky-red coloured. Below is G12+ (which my VW came with.. but G12++ is the newest coolant and compatible with G12+... so I've reliably been told by the people at VW)

Pic below is for G12+, but G12++ bottle bought from VW looks very similar.

I dilute mine 50-50 with deionized water. I would use distilled water but it's more expensive and I haven't found a source for it.

This is something I read in a VW workshop/service manual.
The coolant concentration must be at least 40% (frost protection to -25°C) and should never exceed 60% (frost protection to -40°C), otherwise both frost protection and cooling efficiency will be reduced.

You can buy VAG consumables at Trade Parts Specialists.

They will be the same price as a VW dealer, but if say you are trade (you may have to buy 2 of something) you can get the trade price.
5 litres of Quantum long life costs about £27
