Right not sure if this will help anyone but i recieved this email from my uni today
Dear Student
I am e-mailing you to remind you that as a final year student you may be eligible to claim benefits from the end of your course. It is important to claim on time as it is often difficult to backdate any claims.
You can claim benefits from the first working day after your course officially ends. Benefit offices are busy with new student claims during June and July so claim as promptly as you can.
Even if you have a job that starts over the summer you can claim for the period between the end of your course and start of your job. You will obviously need to be available for work in the intervening period, it does not matter if you have little chance of obtaining work in this short period.
The same principle applies to students that have finished one course and are starting another e.g. finishing an undergraduate course and starting a PGCE course.
The type of benefit you can claim is dependent upon your individual circumstances and cannot be covered in an e-mail. However, ring Jobcentre Plus on 0800 055 6688 and they will make an appointment for you to discuss your claim at your nearest Jobcentre Plus. They will also advise you what documents you need to take in order to make a claim.
If you are continuing on your course in September please disregard this e-mail and be sure to apply for your student funding as soon as possible.
just thought this may help others in between finishing uni and finding a job!

Your uni sent you that?! Wow. When I graduated two years ago, I got nothing of the sort! Guess times have changed a lot.
They're right about backdating claims though. I'm trying to backdate my current claim from whem my circumstances changed because someone in the JobCentre put the wrong date in, cutting me out of 2 weeks of benefits. But of course it was my fault *eyeroll* [/offtopic]0 -
Well i suspect a lot of student graduating this year are going to find them self out of a job.0

Even if you're older than 25, you earn more than the applicable JSA amount and, as you aren't paying a commercial rent, so you won't be eligible for anything else.0 -
