i have noticed latlely that companys are chargeing fees for paper billing is this legal £1.50 p/m x12= £18 per year per company

Yes. It's legal.
Some give a discount if you opt to go paper-free. All part of the decision-making process when signing up.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Its not a charge for the bill its a discount for not having a paper bill sent to you via post. Not sending a bill via post saves the company money as there is no paper and no postage charges and very little cost in producing a bill so they pass this saving on to the customers.
More importantly it saves us money too.0
