Anybody been to Haven site at Blackpool?

Hi,
Has anybody been to the Haven site Marton Mere or Carla Gran in Blackpool.

If so what are they like is it a quiet/ lively place and how far from Blackpool itself.

we are going to cala gran 1st sep for long weekend in a caravan

not been before

its about 6km from blackpool the other one is next door i think

we are looking forward to the long weekend i think lights come on same weekend:D

Went on a football tour to the Cala Gran. It was a very long way from Blackpool and had a busy main road on one side, a chemical or gas plant on another, some wasteland on the third and a train line on the fourth.
Caravans were very close together (I could touch next doors from mine).
The entertainment centre was ok with a pool and bars etc but very busy.
There was a one of those discount shopping centres nearby but not really a lot else.
It was a few years ago now so I hope things have improved - I would never go again and left a day early.

Not sounding too good so far, to me a holiday resort is just a base, depends what you want out of it I suppose

Didn't realise lights come on on the 1st, just checked the Blackpool sites and they do, we're there that weekend the children will be pleased

I live just down the road from the Mrton Mere site, its very nice! Obviuosly haven't stayed but we do walk through it as a dog walk and to the nature reserve, very nice camping and touring caravan site at one end, then a large well maintained static holiday park at the other.
Very nice pool, a small shop but a large Tesco 2 mins away so don't worry, its close to the main road to find, plenty of signs to it but the site is a world away.
You are then 10 min drive into Town Centre Blackpool (tops) probably 20 mins by bus, trams don't come off the prom.
The Cala Gran is a lot further away from Blackpool, its mid Thornton/Fleetwood really. Don't know too much about that 1 apart from it used to have a good bowling alley!

Hi ,used to live down road from cala gran ,it is all of the things mentioned but dont worry it looks a nice place inside and there Farmer Pars animal farm across the road ,Fleetwood Freeport about 3miles down the road,I feel youdo need a car ,Havnt been to marton mere recently,possibly better site,more amenities,again car needed,You could possibly get self catering flat as cheap ,some bad some very good ones and nearer to amenities.
