Is it worth getting Ghost or True Image when I get my new computer or does System Restore do the same job?

Lol.
TrueImage is well worth it in my opinion. You can pick it up for about £15 on Amazon.
I basically freshly install Windows, get it setup perfectly, then take an image. If anything goes wrong, or it start getting slow/bogged down, I just revert back to the image."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -

Yes, but doesn't System Restore do that for nothing?
I have heard System Restore cannot get rid of some spyware/virus but can Ghost/True Image?0 -

they are 2 different things, system restore monitors system file changes, and can roll back to a day ago, a few days ago etc.. it doesn't do anything with your data files. Useful if you install something, and Windows stops working.
ghost / acronis are disk imaging backup solutions, which allow you to put your PC back to the state it was at the time of the backup, this includes data, windows, and all files, not just system files. If your hard disk fails, you can buy a new one, and put the system back to the state it was. Without a disk imaging solution, you have to install windows first.
Thanks for the advice it looks like it might be well worth getting either ghost or acronis.0 -
I se true image and find it so easy to use. My whole system is backed up on 6 dvdrw`s and took two hours firts time it was run and now I just put last disk of set in and run incremental backup when I go for dinner0

One drawback with ghosting/imaging is if the image is corrupted (perhaps due to a faulty HD with bad sectors) it may not reinstall on a new HD. Always back up important files seperately.Out of my mind. Back in 5 minutes.0
