Quick question for Barclays account holders. Anyone?

I agreed to pay a person some money directly into their Barclays current account. I personally do not bank with Barclays. The person gave me their Barclays account number and sort code and I entered a Barclays branch, filled out a paying in slip and deposited my cheque into the person's account. This was well after 4pm last Friday. I have my stamped counterfoil proving I made the deposit.
The person is now claiming that the money is not in his account and is questioning whether I paid the money in.
Barclays customers - I am wondering if because I made the deposit after 4pm Barclays might not have processed the cheque until today, Monday. Also, if they began processing it today, does that mean it would show up on his account instantly (as an uncleared payment) or that it would not even show up at all on his statement until Tuesday? I know that with my former bank if I paid in a cheque on Monday (even before 4pm) it would not actually show on my account until first thing Tuesday morning.
Can anyone shed any light?
The person concerned is becoming increasingly shirty despite the fact I've already shown him the counterfoil proving I made the payment.
Thanks

It takes 3 working days for the money to be taken from the account.
On Wednesday, the person should see a deduction of the balance, and a cheque amount appear on their online banking statement.0 -

I guess I didn't make myself clear in my original post.
I had to pay a man some money. The recipient banks with Barclays and asked me to deposit the funds directly into his Barclays account. I wrote a cheque from my account (which is not with Barclays), walked into a Barclays branch and deposited the cheque into this man's bank account. I did this on Friday afternoon after 4pm. The man has now checked his internet banking and is hassling me with shirty emails because he says the cheque is not showing as having been deposited to his account at all yet, not even as uncleared funds. My question was then, when you pay a cheque into Barclays account does it appear immediately on your online balance (as uncleared funds) or does the cheque not actually show up at all (even as uncleared funds) until the next business day?
For example, at my own bank, if I pay in a cheque on Monday, that will cheque will not even show on my balance in internet banking until first thing Tuesday morning....0 -
It doesn't appear immediately on the online balance. The cheque amount will show up in 3 working days time.0

The problem is that you paid with a cheque drawn on another bank.
If you had drawn the cash and paid that into his account, it would have shown up immediately.
As it is, Barclays will no doubt wait until the cheque clears, then process the funds to his account.0 -
I paid a cheque into my barclays a/c today about 2pm. The cheque was not a Barclays cheque.
It now shows on my account although not as a cleared amount.0 -

2-4-6 applies regardless, therefore Barclays would not hold the cheque until it "clears" (i.e. the 6th working day). Your bank or being a 3rd party is irrelevant.
OP, according to the Barclays website (link) it states:-Barclays wrote:Note: many branches have a cut-off time, after which cheques paid in are processed the following working day. Cut-off times are available in branches.
Barclays - pretty much like any other bank - should apply the cheque to the account, but show it as uncleared/ unavailable. Worst comes to worst, wait six working days (from tomorrow, i.e. Wednesday next week), if the amount debits your account, re-visit the Barclays branch (or request a copy cheque from your bank) to confirm the account the money was deposited into.Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.0
