                    Hi,
2 years ago my partners car was written off when he wasn't even inside. Some one crashed into it and left a note with details.
The insurers went bankrupt and passed all details onto another insurer who are still dealing with it. My partner rings every week and all the solicitor says is this firm 'helphire' have the cheque ready to send but it's been years and no cheque has ever been recieved. The solicitors don't seem to be doing anything. The car was only worth £500 which isn't a lot but it's worth so much to us. They wrote his car off and didn't pay him anything. He had to get a loan out years ago just to buy another car which was vital for his job which is draining on the little money we earn.
Why after 2 years are they still not paying out and constantly lying?

            Hi there
Phone the solicitor and ask for details of the company dealing with the claim, including reference numbers and telephone numbers. Phone the insurers direct and explain to them that you have not been paid for the car and ask them to check whether they have paid HelpHire for the car. If not, at least you can then ask them to correspond with you direct and confirm what they need in order to pay your claim.
If they have paid the claim, you can phone HelpHire main swithcboard and ask them to explain why they haven't sent you your money, threatening them with Trading Standards if they don't get the money out to you within 5 working days.
Finally, NEVER use HelpHire again - as you have discovered to your cost, they are useless. In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0
